Griffin's Little Man Party: The Details
As with most of my parties, my first step is choosing the invitation. I use the invitation to set my party's colors and overall feel. I'm a big believer in photo invites and found these in cioprint's Etsy shop. I wanted to use navy and light green as the colors, but they were increasingly difficult to match so the colors ended up being more royal blue and lime green.
I made as many of the party supplies in advance as I possibly could due to the whole nine months pregnant scenario. I loved the necktie napkins from Smitty Baby's Little Man party (my original inspiration) and made my own using paper from Die Cuts with a View Guy Collection paper stack. I used my FAVORITE CRAFT TOOL ON THE PLANET EARTH - the Silhouette SD - to cut the tie shapes and glue sticked them directly onto paper napkins.
Next, I went to work on the favor bags. I wanted everything in the bag to match the Little Man theme, so I included a candy watch, mustache crayon, mustache lollipop, and tool bubbles. I made the mustache crayons using a candy mold. There was quite a bit of trial and error at first. For some reason, my crayons wouldn't melt in the microwave no matter how long I set the cook time. I eventually used a small nonstick pan and melted them on the stove, which turned the wax to liquids in minutes. I had two boxes of crayons from the dollar store along with several broken crayons I'd been collecting. Out of all those I got almost 48 mustache crayons total.
The next thing I made was the black paper mustaches for the lollipops. I saw the idea over at Blonde Designs for Valentine's Day and knew it would be perfect for my party. Again, I used my handy dandy Silhouette to cut the paper mustaches before sliding them onto the lollipops. I also used my Silhouette to cut the blue argyle ties (paper bought at Michaels) I attached to the outside of the bags. I wish I'd gotten white bags to more closely mirror men's dress shirts, but oh well.
I also made the mustache props for the photo booth (made my stepfather for Griffin's first birthday) using my Silhouette and a template provided by See Cate Create.
The ties were a donation from Grandpa. I cut the twos from the Guy Collection paper using my Silhouette (noticing a trend).
My stepdad cut the awesome mustache chalkboard for the door inspired by a similar one I saw in Playing Grown Up's Etsy shop.
I also made Griffin's coordinating tie t-shirt. I bought the fabric at our local fabric store and used my Silhouette (which now cuts fabric using special interface paper!) to cut the tie and iron it on.
I farmed out most of the food due to previously mentioned nine months pregnant scenario. A local lady made the cookies, my partner in The Celebrated Life Millie Hahn made the fondant cupcake toppers, and Sam's Club made the cupcakes. I made the mustache lollipops myself using the same mold I used for the crayons. (I actually had to buy a new one because the hot wax warped the first one.) It was SUPER easy and I made them about a week in advance. I made the water bottle wraps and cupcake toppers using SURPRISE! my Silhouette.
I think that about covers most of the details. I was really happy with how the party turned out, although I wish Mother Nature had cooperated and it had been held outside. The important thing is Griffin had a fabulous time and Amos stayed in utero until after the party as strictly instructed by his mother!

You did a fantastic job! The theme is adorable, and I'm amazed at your creativity in all the little details.
'Stache loving friends want to know: where did you get the paper with the facial hair silhouettes that you use for the photo booth props? And glad my Favorite Things: Valentine's Edition inspired an item in the goody bags -- I know you couldn't have done it without me. ; )
I think you're talking about the paper in the frame with the quote. It also came from the Guy Collection.
What tie template did you use on the silhouette??? I can't find one I like...
It's just called tie by Nathan Jenne. You can remove the dots and stripes if you want.
Thank you!! I'll be sure to look that up! :)
