We Always Play...Outside {Sponsored Post}
Well, a week (and one very bad sunburn) later we accomplished our goal! We went outside and played, usually more than once, every single day for the past week.
And it was SO much easier than I thought.
Once being outside became a regular choice, Griffin chose it over and over again. I was afraid after a week of the flu (and HOURS of iPad watching) I wouldn't be able to get him out the door. I don't know what I was thinking. He loves being outside and dove right back in to the sticks, sand, and dirt. He seemed happier and calmer and (added bonus!) took longer naps.
I wasn't really surprised. I knew Griffin would benefit from more time outside. What surprised me is how much I did. I figured I would be "stuck" outside with him, while my errands went undone inside. Instead, I was looking for reasons to be outside as much as my son. I went outside to read. I went outside to knit. I went outside when my children were not. As a result, I also felt calmer and happier.
Not to mention, after hours spent pruning and cleaning, our yard actually looks like people live here again! And I found myself looking at plans for a playscape for the boys and garden ideas for myself. We have a beautiful lawn and I finally feel inspired to turn it into the outdoor living space I've always wanted.
I'm going to keep up my pledge to play and see how many days in a row we can go outside.
Feel free to join me!
